    5 out of 5 stars Windows 7 64bit Professional Compatible   December 31, 2009

I bought this wireless card because my old wireless card that was working fine on windows xp was not compatible. I bought a new dell that had Windows 7 professional 64 bit. Surprisingly, not a lot of wireless cards would say whether they're Windows 7 compatible. I read the box on this unit and said it worked on Vista 64 bit. Once at home, i disregarded the instructions and installed the card first. Upon bootup, Windows 7 had already detected and properly installed the wireless card. It worked seamlessly. Once installed, Windows 7 Update founded a more update driver for the card.

I'll post updates if i notice anything odd about this card. At this moment, I'm getting a Fair Connection with my router. The router is located at the other end of the hallway.

The price is another story...yes it's very over price.

I bought this wifi component for my desktop. I had to move my desktop far from modem, behind thick walls and needed a good wireless adapter for my desktop and the best one on the market is this one in my opinion. It has great reception range and quality of connection. Highly recommended.

    5 out of 5 stars A no Brainer!   September 24, 2009

First of all Yes, It is expensive and I had my doubts.. all of doubting was gone in about 5 minutes! the card installs easy enough { like all cards } and it picked up my new wireless router transmissions before I knew the router was on! the CD has step by step instructions that actually are doing all the set up, you just hit "Next" and Presto! I live in a congested APT with lots of interference, how it picks up the signal is amazing! my iMac is the one with the router and my PC with Vista has the card, and my PC is as fast as ever! plus I didn't realize this has dual bands for even more options..
I cannot stress enough about the ease of set up, it is absolutely Fool Proof, you will also be surprised to see the other close by networks it can pick up, so in conclusion... if you are unsure about getting this item, don't be! it works Great!

5 out of 5 stars Nice PCI Card   March 8, 2010

Update 9/1/2010: This card seems to have a rare issue about suddenly not detecting any wireless network connections. I have discovered that the card becomes partially unseated from its slot in the motherboard, which causes it to go into a sort of standby mode in which your computer detects there is a card, but no connections can be made, and the light on the back will blink every few seconds. To fix this, simply take out and reseat the card on the motherboard, with the power off. I have only had this problem on my new motherboard in my new pc, as the card unseats itself about once every month and a half, even when screwed down. I believe this is a motherboard PCI slot issue, not a card issue. I think this issue is caused by thermal expansion of the motherboard.

I bought this PCI card in conjunction with a WRT160N refurbished router to upgrade to the wireless N standard. I bought this one because I wanted a PCI card that is compatible with single and dual-band routers. It is fast, and the software that comes with it keeps a reliable connection. Upon arriving, I installed it in my PC. This requires opening up the PC to install, so if you're unsure on how to do this have someone who is comfortable doing this do it for you. I especially like how all the hardware is distributed on one side of the card, because I have a big graphics card in the previous PCI slot, and having all the hardware on that side allowed me to fit it in my case. Be sure to update the driver once installed, because the one on the CD that comes with it is out of date.
